studio building picture update part deux

Before I begin this blog I want to say thank you guys so much for an amazing evening last night at Webster Hall.   We had an awesome time playing and owe a huge thank you to everyone who was a part of this event: The Bronx Underground + Afro Punk + The awesome bands (=5COAT, The Bride Wore Black, AMUL9, our friends Safe to Say for coming out to support.) + YOU GUYS for being there, singing, talking to us, and making that evening what it was.  We’ll have some videos up of this show soon.

Anyways, as promised, here’s the second picture update installment of our epic room-building endeavor.  After weeks of hard work & being 99% finished with our new space along comes (GASP!) a new challege: a big flood.   Normally this would not be a huge deal and a handy mop + air drying would do the job.  But being that we spent over a week installing a wood floor ourselves, it was a pretty big set back.  We’re thinking a carpet might be the way to go now…

Nonetheless, we’re almost there and we’re really looking forward to getting in there.  Here’s how it went down:

Kids say the darnest things

I have a 5-yr-old brother.  My mom found this today and was very upset with him about it.  Apparently, he isn’t very fond of the queen.

Here’s the AIM conversation I had with Nick right before I decided to post this.

"FAKEING BED MAN"

"FAKEING BED MAN"

me:  i wanna post a blog about this picture. open your e-mail. my mom found that today and he got in trouble. he said he was sorry
nick: hahahaha
  ‘faking bed man’?
me: he was trying to write “fucking bad man”
 nick: lolol
  oh lord
  thats fantastic
me: i know, i couldn’t even get mad about it dude.
nick: thats like when i drew a picture of my grandmother naked
me: lmao
nick: and my parents found it.  its sort of like wtf
me: what is wrong with you?
why did you even think about that?
nick: no clue bro, i was 5

Shizzows & randomness

These recent days have been filled with non-stop working on our new space, which I’m happy to say is now in it’s final stages.  I will post a new picture update of this very soon.

We do have some other things going on as well that I want to share with you guys.  Check it out..

  • ACOUSTIC VIDEOS
Adam & the guys at Bronx Underground uploaded these videos of us from the recent acoustic benefit show at FLC in the Bronx.  We had such a good time here and I think it really shows in these videos.  Thank you all so much for this.

  • RANDOM
    - I found a box of about 20 of our self-titled CDs buried in the trunk of a car.  We all thought these were sold-out/gone for a long time and have been getting a lot of e-mails from people about  where to find them.
We probably were not going to repress this album but we’ll see how it goes.  I will restock these 20 copies with CDBaby and if you want to be on the list to get it just go to http://www.cdbaby.com/amomentsworth2 and sign up for it. Not sure if this is a joke but someone was auctioning this CD off on e-bay for $100 (HHWWHAT?!?). I’m not kidding:

    - I saw the movie Observe and Report over the weekend and didn’t really know what to make of it.  So I’ll probably see it again soon to decide.  Any of you guys see it? What’d you think?

I’ll update you guys with other news soon. Thank you for all of your constant support!

ok … so i must add to this … although it is fun doing shit together like this, there are definate downfalls lol … here is my top 10 “bitch list”

    1. my arms are like f*#@ing jello!!!

    2. ive been suffering from chronic nightmares … well, at least 4 times in the last three weeks … where ive dreamt that i was spackling and sanding, spackling and sanding … then id wake up, realize i had to go to work, and have an internal monologue bitching that i just got off work (meaning my dream) … yet, on the other hand, at least it wasnt a dialogue cause then id worry

    3. when your life is wake up, go to work, build a room, go to sleep, rinse, repeat, someone is bound to push you the wrong way and feel the wrath of your frustration hahahah

    4. speaking of rinse, repeat … little time = fewer bathing opportunities

    5. the last time i actually ate food that wasnt in a wrapper, or needed to be nuked in a microwave for 5 minutes, was ….. long ago

    6. just cause you spackled and sanded, doesnt mean its right

    7. ive been blowing off-white, plaster boogers for way two weeks and coughing up saw dust for 1.5

    8. did i mention spackling and sanding suck?? cause thats important.

    9. … so is a sleep deprived state of mind …

    and my final reason ….

    10. ITS STILL NOT F^$#ING DONE YET !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

but i must admit, it has been fun in a sick and twisted way. we are laying the foundation (literally) to make new albums as a team, the way it should be.

  • Pat says:

    Yo man! it looks sickkk

i cant wait to come home and visit

    i miss you guys <3

just sitting here listening to all three albums gets you bummed about not being home in the BX =(

What we’ve been up to

acousticflc

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about what we’ve been up to these days so I’d like to tell you guys about the kinds of things we’re working on…

Probably our biggest project right now is building (yes, physically building) our new practice and recording space.

Here’s the long story made (somewhat) short…

We had a room (SSSTUDIO!) for quite a while where we were able to practice, write, record, and hang out.   Our EP ‘Sleepless’ was written, recorded and produced entirely in that studio.  It was a really productive environment for us.  Not too long ago, however, due to a number of problems and issues outside of our control we were forced to move out, practice in hourly-charging studios for the time being,  and start looking for a new place.

Fortunately and fairly recently, we did find a new place, but A LOT of work had to be done before we could move in.  We’ve literally had to put all of our walls up, put the floors in, paint, and do almost everything else that comes with construction.  We’re no strangers to doing things ourselves, but this has been one of the biggest things we’ve had to work on as a band.   Nick, Johnny, & Frank–probably the handiest guys in the band and with the most experience in construction, have been teaching me, Anthony, & Chris ‘Baby Girl’ what’s what.  This is definitely not one of my strongest areas, but I’ve learned so much about building just by being a part of this.  And more importantly, this has helped us to put a lot of ourselves and our energy into the very walls of where we’ll be making our music.  I’ll keep you guys updated on this and maybe throw some pictures up soon of how it’s coming along.

In addition to all of this, we’ve been writing and have begun work on new material–some of which we’ll be incorporating into our sets even before it’s recorded so we can get your feedback on it.

We’ve still been playing shows steadily and it’s amazing to see you guys coming out and supporting us show after show.  A new thing we’ve started doing is playing acoustic sets.  This opened up a lot of doors to new venues, fans, and opportunities.  It’s really a different vibe & energy from the typical AMW show but it can be so much more intimate.  There’s really nothing like hearing you guys sing when it’s just us, you, and the sound of an acoustic guitar.  It’s also helped us to really take the songs down to their cores and changed how we look at song-writing.  Don’t worry, we’re not planning on going all acoustic on you but we will throw these shows into the mix every-so-often because they’ve been really cool so far.

Finally, I won’t get into details now but we’ve been tending to a lot of business issues with the band as well.  We’ve been meeting with people and working with a really great group of individuals, including Ray Ovetsky, who have been helping us grow in new territories. Exciting stuff…

What have you guys been up to?  What are some things you’d like to see from us in the near future?…Let us know yo!

Thanks & Peace
