I’ve been getting a lot of questions about what we’ve been up to these days so I’d like to tell you guys about the kinds of things we’re working on…
Probably our biggest project right now is building (yes, physically building) our new practice and recording space.
Here’s the long story made (somewhat) short…
We had a room (SSSTUDIO!) for quite a while where we were able to practice, write, record, and hang out. Our EP ‘Sleepless’ was written, recorded and produced entirely in that studio. It was a really productive environment for us. Not too long ago, however, due to a number of problems and issues outside of our control we were forced to move out, practice in hourly-charging studios for the time being, and start looking for a new place.
Fortunately and fairly recently, we did find a new place, but A LOT of work had to be done before we could move in. We’ve literally had to put all of our walls up, put the floors in, paint, and do almost everything else that comes with construction. We’re no strangers to doing things ourselves, but this has been one of the biggest things we’ve had to work on as a band. Nick, Johnny, & Frank–probably the handiest guys in the band and with the most experience in construction, have been teaching me, Anthony, & Chris ‘Baby Girl’ what’s what. This is definitely not one of my strongest areas, but I’ve learned so much about building just by being a part of this. And more importantly, this has helped us to put a lot of ourselves and our energy into the very walls of where we’ll be making our music. I’ll keep you guys updated on this and maybe throw some pictures up soon of how it’s coming along.
In addition to all of this, we’ve been writing and have begun work on new material–some of which we’ll be incorporating into our sets even before it’s recorded so we can get your feedback on it.
We’ve still been playing shows steadily and it’s amazing to see you guys coming out and supporting us show after show. A new thing we’ve started doing is playing acoustic sets. This opened up a lot of doors to new venues, fans, and opportunities. It’s really a different vibe & energy from the typical AMW show but it can be so much more intimate. There’s really nothing like hearing you guys sing when it’s just us, you, and the sound of an acoustic guitar. It’s also helped us to really take the songs down to their cores and changed how we look at song-writing. Don’t worry, we’re not planning on going all acoustic on you but we will throw these shows into the mix every-so-often because they’ve been really cool so far.
Finally, I won’t get into details now but we’ve been tending to a lot of business issues with the band as well. We’ve been meeting with people and working with a really great group of individuals, including Ray Ovetsky, who have been helping us grow in new territories. Exciting stuff…
What have you guys been up to? What are some things you’d like to see from us in the near future?…Let us know yo!
Thanks & Peace
