“Still Got My Optimism Afterall”

We are speechless and truly touched. thank you so much Nick.

"Still got my optimism afterall"

“So I just wanna say this. I’ve been a big fan of you guys ever since before my band (Staple Remover cough cough) started. For the past couple of years, your music has helped me through a lot. But there’s always been that one line that’s really helped me through everything, especially in the past few months. “Still Got My Optimism After All” has been the one line I’ve spent all of my days living by. It’s helped me to see the brighter side of things, and I cant express how much it’s meant to me. Today, to show both my appreciation of you guys for all you’ve done for me, for my band, for everyone who hears you, and to show how much this one line has helped me in my life, I got my first tattoo. It’s a hospital band with the line written in it. It means a lot to me, and it always will. It will forever be there to show me that things will be better. So I thank you all…for everything.”

Why

A good friend of mine has recently been faced with a very difficult and trying time in his life.  I’m not talking about drama or relationship problems. I’m talking about some serious shit. Without going into details for the sake of his privacy, it has been a time of tremendous pain, doubt, and confusion for him and his family.

At a recent outdoor gathering, he came up to me and asked me if I had headphones on me. “Sure,” I said as I pulled them out of my beat up book bag.  Giving me a “thanks” nod he took them, plugged them into his mp3 player and walked off by himself.

I watched him from a distance standing far from the crowd, simply listening to a song.  I stood both heartbroken and amazed.

A song is helping him in some way to get through a time like this—not a book or movie, not medicine or a pill, not conversation, but a song at this moment can speak to him like nothing and no one else can.

This is why, I thought, I write and play music: to be that song for a good friend.

Outdoor show madness

With the weather being as beautiful as it has been, we’ve been able to get out of the studio and finally play some outdoor shows (one of our favorite things in the world to do).  Here is some footage from our recent show at College of New Rochelle’s Strawberry Festival which we played with our good friends My Arcadia. We had such a good time at this show--thank you guys for making us feel so welcome!

Thanks so much to Kyle from I Redeemer for these videos!

Want to catch the next outdoor show? We’re going to rock out with the Bronx Underground in the Boogie Down, next Saturday May 15th!

Here’s the event page & flyer:

See you soon! :)

Group vocals media recap

Just recently we’ve had a bunch of friends come over to our studio and lay down the group vocals for the upcoming album. Needless to say, we had an absolute blast with everyone and are super grateful for our friends’ amazing help & singing abilities.

Here’s a brief picture/video recap of what went down. (Thanks to Kyle, Glenda & Christina for the pictures/videos!).

Thank you guys so much & see you all soon!
