STS Feast 2010 Media Recap

This year’s annual STS Feast was nothing short of amazing.

We had an absolute blast hitting that stage for the 10th year. All of our friends that played that night (A Cruel Twist, The City Strikes Back, Drew Torres, and Makeshift Lullaby) totally killed it.

It seems like almost yesterday we were the awkward 8th grade geeks that nervously went up on stage to play a set in front of an actual audience (consisting of people other than our parents). 10 years later, we’re still the same geeks having more fun with you guys than we ever imagined. Thank you guys for an amazing ride so far.

Check out the pics and video below thanks to our friends Kyle, Alexis and Frankie.

See you at the next show for our CD Release!

With all of our love & gratitude,
amw

What is a moment’s worth?

A moment’s worth is finding that what you thought you were missing has always been right there with you all along—you just never looked close enough. A moment’s worth is having a conversation with a best friend and only years later feeling the impact and relevance of the words he spoke.

A moment’s worth is the rush you felt when you first fell in love, and the pain that came when that love ended: it’s watching something you’ve believed in for years fall apart, bit by agonizing bit. A moment’s worth is realizing that all is not lost. It is a new beginning. It is learning when to hold on and when to let go.

It is the flash of insight that comes to you at the most unexpected of times. It is trying to figure it all out and realizing that perhaps right now you can’t and shouldn’t. A moment’s worth is making peace with bewilderment.

Most of all, perhaps it’s simply learning to recognize the often elusive but tremendous importance of each unique instant.

Such as this one.

Right here. Right now.

This is a moment’s worth.

The Calling (a brief introduction)

People will try to shut you down.
Don’t let them.
People will tell you that what you think is possible really isn’t.
Don’t listen.
People will try to tell you they know what’s best for your life.
Resist.

You have your own calling. You have your own path. You have your own voice, your own words, and a power behind them. Don’t let the voices of the defeated and lost dilute yours.

The compass is within you.

Let that be your guide.”

“Bronx Underground Needs Your Help”

Our good friend Devin from This Condition (and formerly of The Bride Wore Black) posted the blog below.

You guys know how much the Bronx Underground (home of our first performances, countless shows and memories, and our upcoming CD release show) means to us.  They are more than a venue or a group of people running shows. They are our family and they helped to build one of the greatest music scenes in the world. Please support them and the Bronx music scene in any way you can.

I’m not going to go into detail, because its not my place to do so, but an organization that I truly love and respect called The Bronx Underground needs your help. I’ve always had faith in the kids that come out to BXUG shows. Faith that they came out to shows regardless of the bands playing, but for the sole purpose of supporting music and the bronx underground. Unfortunately my faith in most of these kids is now gone. Attendance for BXUG shows has decreased dramatically, because the company has been forced to stop booking heavy bands. Please, continue to come out to their shows and restore my faith in the kids that consider themselves part of the bronx scene. It would be a shame to see a group of people like Adam, Anita, and all their staff have to stop doing what they love just because a specific style of bands are no longer able to play shows for them. Please continue to support local and underground music. Don’t turn your back on a company that was FORCED to make a certain decision; a company that has put on so many amazing shows and given you something to do on a friday night. They’ve been around for far too long, and have worked way too hard to have to hang up their shoes. Bands and kids who love these bands NEED the bronx underground.

Please reblog this if you can. Maybe even add one of your favorite memories from a bronx underground show. Mine is The Bride Wore Black’s CD release show last june.
